Little details....

I listed these as little details but actually they are huge.  The drive home from getting the dress entailed a very long discussion about all the "other stuff".  The "other stuff" including the cake, invitations, guest list, gift registry, groomsmen's attire and the wedding dinner.  Now, your probably thinking how can one discuss all this on the drive home?  Let me tell you, it was a long drive.  Thank God for mobile devices with internet.  The bride was able to view invitations and decide what she liked.  She also went to Pintrest and found a cake design that she absolutely fell in love with! We decided that this wedding needed to be small and immediate family only, since I'm only one person planning this.  The guest list was discussed and we decided on who would be invited, even made a list!  The wedding dinner was decided upon and even who we would have cater it.  This thing really is coming together!  Easy peasy!

Finally getting stuff accomplished!

Well, we gotten a few things checked off our list on the app.  The venue seemed like the biggest thing to find.  So we set out looking for a barn type building that we could use to make everyone happy.  I was so proud of myself for remembering a small place out in the country, that looked like a barn.  I had been to this place before where, ironically, I attended a wedding!  So I'm thinking how wonderful this would be, and how we could just have such a cool looking place.  Until we actually went to look at it.  Holy cow! It's old barn wood alright.  With only screen at the top and the inside is a mess!  It would take a load of people just to clean the place up, not to mention all the stuff to make it look "wedding" like.  No heat either!  This is a January wedding people!  WE NEED HEAT!!!!! Back to the drawing board.  Finally I convinced the bridge and groom that an old barn was not the best idea for a January wedding.  We found a nice spot, complete with tables and chairs.  Points for Mom!

Next step, let's go find a dress!  We high tail it to the city to find a dress.  Now my vision of wedding dress shopping with my daughters has always included lots of family, a full day and maybe a television crew.  Ok, just kidding on the television crew, but I have watched enough episodes of wedding dress shopping shows to want that for my girls.  Oh no, not this trip.  We slid in sideways to our parking spot and proceed to aisle 5.  That was a bid drastic, I'm old I putted into my parking spot and asked someone to help us!  The bride found two dresses she liked and I found one.  Off to the dressing room!  She tried hers on first and they just didn't work well for her.  Sooooooo, I'm like, try mine on.  And guess what?? It's the one. Perfect fit and she loved it!  Another point for mom!  I'm on a roll here!!

What to do first?

First things first, with the date set for January 2nd, we needed to decide the basics for this shindig.  We already know the kids, the bride and groom, want a country themed wedding.  You know with burlap, old barn wood, old barns and boots.  I know, highly original, but it's kids and country living so I will aim to please.  So, how exactly does one go about setting this up without forgetting something?  I do what any self respecting person would do.  I find an app for my phone that will actually tell me what to do!  Besides, I'm old, Christmas is coming up and I'm trying to finish up my college classes with having a full time job, do you really think I can remember anything right now?  Nope, there are days I don't even know my own name, let alone all the steps for putting a wedding together! Oh, I forgot to tell you the little bit of information that is driving all of this hectic activity. You got it, a baby is on the way.  I'm going to be a grandma!
